Sections

- Section Communities -

So, what is a Section?
Sections are made up of people who connect weekly by sitting in the same section of the auditorium when we gather together as the church. These mid-sized groups help to make our big church feel smaller.

We are not looking to add anything to your busy schedule. We simply want to make the time you spend at church a bit more intentional. We believe this will provide opportunities to cultivate more meaningful relationships.

Eventually, each section will
have a leader to coordinate
and care for that section. One
of the ways to connect with your section will be through a monthly section gathering. Your section leader will communicate these types of opportunities specifically to your section.

--
We are not all the same, we get that. In fact, we celebrate that! Each seat holds uniquely-wired people with different personalities, gifts and life stories.

The Introverts: Please don’t worry! This isn’t a program that everyone is forced into. Sit where you feel most comfortable and only join in the opportunities that are right for you.

The Roamers: We know you like meeting new people and seeing new places. Feel free to keep moving around, and if you would like deeper relationships, find
a section that you can regularly connect with throughout your travels.

The Same Seat Sitters: We know that’s your seat and that you have not moved for years. You’re not alone. Most of the people in your section have been there for a while too. Take the time to say hi, learn a name and even write it down, and be sure to say hi next week.

The Empty Seats: They are there for a reason and it’s not just
to provide a buffer zone around you. It’s actually a reminder of the mission we are all on with Jesus. Keep praying and watching. At some point, that friend or family member might actually be sitting there.

Haven’t seen your section yet? We might still be in need of potluck hosts and Point Leaders.
If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Josh at jluse@lincolnberean.org.

Agora Fellowship

New Sessions Begin Each Fall

Leadership for the Common Good

In ancient Greek, the agora was a gathering place in the middle of a city that served as the center for commerce, politics, education, the arts, religion and civic life. What happened in the agora shaped the society as a whole. Not much has changed. Today the ideas and practices that flow from the academies, churches/temples/synagogues, businesses, houses of government and studios profoundly change and shape the society in which we live.

Purpose
The Agora Fellowship equips young professionals to integrate their Christian commitment and vocation enabling them to impact their professions for God’s kingdom and to be agents of cultural renewal.

Description
The Fellowship is a nine-month intensive program designed to provide young professionals with a solid base of theological, ethical and cultural understanding. Through weekly readings and discussions, monthly gatherings, and one-on-one mentoring with a mature person in their profession, Fellows will develop as influential leaders in their professions who can serve effectively as ambassadors for God’s kingdom and contribute to the common good locally, regionally, nationally and even internationally.

Requirements include:
· Complete weekly readings
· Attend and participate in weekly discussions over the readings
· Attend monthly gatherings to meet with guest speakers or go on excursions in and around the city of Lincoln
· Complete 2-3 written assessments over the course of the nine months
- Book fee of approximately $140

Who should apply?
Men and women, 25-35 years of age, working in fields including higher education, law, medicine, the sciences, media, arts, government and business/finance. The applicant should (1) be currently employed full-time, (2) have at least a year of working experience in his or her profession, (3) possess clear and strong Christian commitment and character and (4) desire to use his or her position of leadership to influence the culture for God’s kingdom and the common good.

If you'd like to hear more about the Agora Fellowship, check out our promotional video.

Click here to apply. We'll be accepting new applicants Summer 2018.

Premarital

Discovering God’s Will

Sundays, March 25 - May 15, 10:45AM -

Young couples are in a stage of life where they are making some of the most important decisions of their lives! Who should be my life partner? What should be my life’s work or vocation? How should I chose a graduate school program? How many children should we have? How should we spend our limited finances? In this eight week class we will survey scriptural truth and consider views of some contemporary Christian writers (Robinson, MacArthur, Swindoll, Sweeting, Stanley, Friesen, etc.) to understand a biblical view of decision making and the Will of God. Haddon Robinson, renowned Bible teacher, speaker, and author said, “The Bible does not provide a map for life—only a compass. But through study, you will discover how the compass can guide you over the bewildering terrain.” This class is offered to young couples from the recent premarital classes and other young married couples.

Married Couples with Young Kids Connecting Series

January-April, 2018

Join us to get to know other couples in your life stage!
• An event series designed for married couples with kids ranging from nursery to 4th grade who are looking for connection with other couples in their same life phase
• 10-12 couples enjoy an event together once a month for four months

Couples with young children have unique challenges that make it tough to find time to fellowship. Yet life with little kids is a key stage where real adult fellowship is crucial to survival. There are tons of couples in this life stage in the halls at Berean and you may know very few, so we want to change that!

To help foster greater community, we’re hosting a series of events with the sole purpose of helping couples meet other couples. This series will consist of 4 events, 1 per month, to help you get to know more people at Lincoln Berean without having to make a long-term commitment. Childcare is available via sign-up for some of the events.

For dates and more information on how this works click here.

Space in each community is limited to the first 12 couples who sign up.
